Dana White claims he is on the verge of securing a private island to stage fights and that UFC 249 will be held at a secret location.
The UFC president has been insisting for weeks UFC 249 would go ahead despite the world-wide coronavirus pandemic.
Khabib Nurmagomedov is off the card as the lightweight champion is unable to leave Russia, so Justin Gaethje has stepped in to take on Tony Ferguson in an interim title fight.

The US has banned mass gatherings as the coronavirus grips the country and White insisted he wouldn’t be revealing the location for UFC 249, but did confirm it was on the west coast of the US.
‘This place, where this fight’s going to be on April 18th, I have locked up for two months, so I’m going to continue to pump fights at. I’ve also secured an island. I’ve got an island,’ he told ESPN.
‘The infrastructure is being built right now. We’re going to do all our international fights on that island.
‘So when we do this fight on April 18th, international and in the United States, we’re going to start cranking. The UFC will be back up running,’ he added.
‘We’re going back to back to back. We’re going back to our regular schedule.’
Several big-name fighters have been added to the card including Francis Ngannou, Uriah Hall and Jeremy Stephens.
The co-main event will be a clash between two former strawweight champions, Jessica Andrade and Rose Namajunas, but White sensationally claimed the fighters would not know where they are being transported to.
‘What we’re going to do is, we’re going to get the fighters somewhere, and we’re going to bring them to this location. They won’t know where they’re headed to,’ White said.
‘We’re working on it right now. But there’s definitely some planes involved.
‘Things like that, especially for this island.’
White has insisted fighters and staff will be ‘screened’ for coronavirus, but did not elaborate on the details of the testing or how regularly they would be carried out.
With the American health system struggling to cope with the pandemic, White also claimed the issue of fighters needing to go to hospital after bouts had also been resolved.
The UFC supremo said the logistics of the private island had been worked out and that would be for international fighters who are currently barred from entering the United States.
