Rob Gronkowski did more than just host WrestleMania 36. He became a champion.
Gronkowski hosted WrestleMania on Saturday night as “Gronk” and received mixed reviews. On Sunday, he took the WWE 24/7 championship belt from Mojo Rawley.
Mojo, who took the belt from R-Truth on Saturday, got swarmed by multiple WWE wrestlers in pursuit of the 24/7 belt. Mojo was at the center of a pile when Gronk jumped off a balcony and on the top of the group. Gronk then found Mojo, pinned him, and lifted the belt in celebration.
Gronk mentioned earlier on Sunday night that he was eyeing the 24/7 championship. “I’ve won three major championships in my life and that’s cool and all, but that’s in the past,” he said. “I wouldn’t mind winning the 24/7 title before the end of tonight. I’m here at WrestleMania, I want that title.”
What is the WWE 24/7 championship?
The WWE 24/7 Championship was revealed by WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley in 2019 and “can be defended anytime, anywhere, as long as a WWE referee is present,” according to the WWE’s website. The belt is not usually won in the wrestling ring. R-Truth got the belt before Mojo by pinning Riddick Moss on a sidewalk while Moss was jogging.
The belt can be acquired by anyone, not just WWE performers.
