Danny Gonzalez has tragically lost his life after being shot on Monday while enjoying a picnic with his family.
The 22-year-old was with his loved ones on Labor Day, in Moreno Valley, California when the incident happened.
At around 9:00PM, someone approached the boxer and opened fire on the boxing prodigy.
Paramedics and police responded but the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Two other people were taken to hospital where they were treated for non-life-threatening injuries, police say.
The Riverside County Sheriff's Dept have an investigation underway but as of yet there are no suspects for this horrific crime.
WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman left a tocuhing message for the youngster saying: "We are very sad to report the tragic death of boxer and top prospect, Danny Gonzalez."
"We send our deepest condolences and prayers to the Gonzalez family at this hard time. May Danny rest in eternal peace."
Gonzalez had been signed to Floyd Mayweather Promotions from the age of 18 after a phenomenal amateur record.
In 2013, he fought with for USA Boxing in the 2013 Junior Men's World Championships in Kiev, Ukraine.
He signed for Mayweather's company on August 6, 2016 and at the time, Money was over the moon.
"There are certain times when you know you've just struck gold and this is one of them!" Mayweather wrote in a social media post.
"Welcome 18-year old phenomenon @daanny.g with an incredible amateur record of 96-13. This 9-time National Champion is a force to be reckoned with!
"Follow this future World Champion, approved by the undefeated champion himself. Daniel Gonzalez is Floyd Mayweather, approved!"
Mayweather broke his silence on Gonzalez's death, saying: ""RIP DANNY GONZALEZ.."
